From Reflection to Action: As we believe that communities should shape their own proposals for change, this strategy looks to collect and critically analyze their experiences and knowledge on Diversity & Inclusion and integrate them with interventions, public policy and social change. Concrete actions to this strategy are the ADVISORY CIRCLE formed by project partners and interested Grey Bruce participants. We note that employers are the key decision-makers in this context. |
From Individual to Collective: This fundamental strategy refers to the processes that bring community members together to solve complex issues with a focus on collaboration and social inclusion. Community engagement empowers communities as it helps to determine their own local priorities and actions by favouring multi-sectoral collaborations. We offer critical workshops and are creating collective safe spaces in Grey Bruce. |
From banking information to critical awareness: Our philosophy draws on the popular education approach developed by Paolo Freire. Popular education respects the dignity and prior knowledge of the learner, encouraging reflection on lived experience. The School of Refl(Act)ion is a co-learning space for difficult conversations about racism and discrimination. We critically reflect and collectively act on safe workplaces for racialized people, indigenous communities, and people of colour, including new immigrants. |
