Supporting employers, human resources professionals and supervisors from all sectors -private and public in Grey Bruce- to learn how to successfully build connections, and address racism and discrimination creating positive and meaningful workplaces for racialized people, indigenous communities, and people of colour including new immigrants.

PROJECT ANTECEDENTS
Making Grey Bruce Home February 2018 – March 2019 This pilot project was a partnership between United Way of Bruce Grey and Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce, and was funded by the Government of Ontario with support from the Community Foundation Grey Bruce and Power Workers Union. It developed, implemented and evaluated a rural service delivery model, which would enhance the capacity of communities and service providers to support the social and economic integration of refugees and vulnerable newcomers where conventional settlement program is not available. Rural Pathways for Newcomer Women in Grey Bruce August 2019 – December 2020 Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce and United Way of Bruce Grey received funding from IRCC to address the barriers to labour market entry and career advancement faced by visible minority newcomer women in Grey Bruce. The project works with visible minority newcomer and immigrant women, employers, employment services, and other service providers to develop, implement and evaluate various pathways for visible minority newcomer women from various cultural, educational and economic backgrounds to overcome employment barriers. Outcomes: - Visible Minority Newcomer Women and Employment in Grey Bruce Survey Report - Employers, Employment Services and Community Stakeholders Consultation Report - Covid-19 Response Activities: Resource sheets for newcomers and employers were developed. |
